How to stitch French Knots onto a stitching on card pattern

Stitching French Knots onto card isn't as difficult as you would think.

Adding French Knots to my designs was a decision I didn't take lightly as many people find the French Knot quite a daunting stitch. I wasn't that familiar with it myself. I was finding that adding beads to the designs was causing colour matching issues that I'm sure most customers can do without, and, of course, there's the added expense of buying the few beads required for a design. I felt the designs needed an alternative to beads to give them texture and dimension and the French Knot is perfect. After a very quick practice stitching up a few sample patterns I really got into stitching them and realised they're not nearly as challenging as I thought.

There are many images, instructions and videos on how to create French Knots on fabric available on the internet but nothing for stitching them onto card but it's exactly the same as stitching them onto fabric. As I'm a left handed stitcher it's quite difficult for me to create diagrams for the majority of right handed stitchers so I suggest you do a quick google search for a video.

I have produced a couple of graphics and a description below which I hope will help you.

Now you need to grab the thread at the point it comes up through the card and gently pull it so that the thread wrapped around the needle tightens and goes to the bottom of the needle. Holding everything tight slowly pull the needle and thread all the way through the loops and the hole in the card until everything is tight and secure,
